Alan Oxenbury
Procurement Trainer and Consultant
Alan is a procurement trainer and consultant. After graduating from Exeter University in 1977 with a BA (Honours) in Economics, Alan began his career at a County Council as a Purchasing Officer for hydrocarbon products and highways materials. Alan also worked for the Post Office as a Senior Purchasing Officer for postal sorting office equipment and furniture, before moving to the electricity sector, working on several power station construction projects. Alan then became a Procurement Policy and Manager for a nuclear decommissioning company, where he was a source of expertise on all matters of procurement policy, procedure, guidance, practice, training and contract documentation and terms and conditions.
Alan regularly delivers Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) training courses for the professional qualification at levels 4, 5 and 6. Alan has also delivered training for UK and overseas public and private sector organisations covering subjects such as Contract Management, Specification Writing, Value for Money, Risk Management and EU Procurement Legislation.
Alan is a past examiner for CIPS, is a co-author of the textbook “Practical Contract Management” and has also contributed several articles for “Supply Management” (CIPS Journal).
